TAT is named after and spiritually linked to Metatron — one of the most exalted and fascinating figures in the entire canon of angelic lore, Jewish mysticism, Hermetic philosophy, and esoteric Christianity.

In Rabbinic literature and Jewish Kabbalistic tradition, Metatron occupies a singular position: he is one of only two archangels believed to have once been human.
